Short and concise description. Seems like it is a small temple.
A different color combination and still very pleasing to the eyes.
A,
very small temple but very popular..
Mridula,
The structure and layout of the temple is also different than what we usually see.
Nice small temple. What is expansion for GSB? I saw the innumerable temmples under it and look forward to your posts for some of the important temples.
Looks very nice and inviting to me!
The name Ullal brought back memories of the story of Rani Abbakka of Ullal. Is there any historical sites around there? Thanks!
Nice one..Chitra..!
KP, I have provided a link regarding GSB. It stands for Gowda Saraswath Brahmins.
Thank you Martina.
?,
Other than the temple I do not know if anything else of importance is there in Ullal.
Sridharan,
thanks.
beautiful pictures especialy liked the thongu vilakku and the terracotta brindavan adds divinity to any place. never heard of this temple, though visited many temples around mangalore.. will mark it.
Asha,
It is mostly frequented by GSB community which I am also a member:)
Looks like a quaint little Temple with peaceful surroundings...
Have a wonderful week ahead Chitra:)
Are you a GSB? I thought you were from Kerala. I have many friends who are GSB's mostly konkanis from padbidri, hebri, all close to this place.
I like those heavy doooors ..
Bikram's
Arti, thanks....Will be away for a few days. see you soon..
I am a GSB from Kerala , Asha.
Bikram...thanks.
chitra ji....so nice to visit yr blog...cheers
Although the temple is small, the interiors are well decorated. From the photographs it looks as if the walls/door jambs etc are covered with some metal sheet. While visiting Venkatachalapathi temple at Kochi, I was exposed to an hour's lecture on GSBs by my younger brother Sampath, who lives there.
PNS,
the interior doors of the main shrine and sub shrine are covered with silver sheets.this is a common feature in most of the Mangalore side temples.Have you visited Kochi temple also?...Great...
Thank you for your last comment Chitra! I wish you great success with your jewel art - you have such magical pieces!
This is my first visit here. I enjoyed it a lot. I get to travel through your posts.
nanri yar...sure all well with your exhibition...best wishes always
Goodness, so very different to the temples we normally visit but still stunning in its decoration.
simply beautifully captured shots...lovely reading about this place!
Thanks Susie , Ramesh, PW, Kalyan for your comments here.
Well written blog mam. Thank you.
Just wanted to clarify mam. GSB stands for Goud Saraswat Brahmins. Not Gowda Saraswat Brahmins. Gowdas are a different class altogether and we are often mistaken to be part of them at times because of the term-similiarity!!
I would also like to refer one more document compiled U.V.Kini on this temple in Ullal
