Kamakshi temple, in Shiroda is more than 500 years old. Kamakshi is an
incarnation Goddess Parvati, the consort of Lord Siva. The temple complex
houses three more shrines dedicated to Shanta Durga, Lakshmi Narayana and
Rayeshwar (Siva). The temple doors here are embellished well with silver foil
work. This village of Shiroda is situated 12Kms from Kavlem taluk of Ponda. To

Kamakshi Amman of Kanchipuram
Just outside this temple there is a small shrine dedicated to Aanjaneya . See
the last three photos.
How to reach: Goa is well connected by air and rail and road.
Madgaon is the nearest rail station.which is about 20 Kms. from this
temple.
There is also accommodation facilities available in this temple for the
community members.

looks like a nice, typically goan temple..... but we didnt visit this one... in fact, goa was the one place where we didnt visit many temples... not even churches, for that matter!!
The goddess Kamakshi... If I can recollect correctly, she also has a temple in Guwahati..
Beautiful temple and wonderful pics!
Anu,
You can visit at least few temples on your next visit. The thing is people know Goa, more for its beaches and churches.
Arti,
The temple you have mentioned is at Kamakhya in Guwahati. It is a very famous Sakthi Peeta. But I haven't been to that temple yet.
Its typical of other temples in Goa; seeing the pictures and comparing it with your earlier temples.
Very beautiful.
I love photo 8 of the room at the top which is all lit up - beautiful.
Nice temple. Nice narration.

The temple structures are almost same except for minor variations. Like all South Indian temples have huge towers, temples in Goa have tall sthambhas in front.
Mridula and SG, thanks for your comments.

This is my first time on your blog, liked the write up. I have heard a lot about the Madhurai Kamakshi temple but didn't know about this one. So, it was good learning indeed.
I have been to Kamakshi temple in Guwahati but I was not aware of this beautiful temple located in Goa. Very nicely written and I shall visit this temple definitely during my next India trip. I love to travel very much and enjoy each and every post of yours.

Welcome to my blog. Madurai is famous for the Meenakshi temple which has the tallest and most beautiful tower. I have written a separate blog on it. Kamakshi, another name for Goddess Parvati is in Kanchipuram in TN.
Babli,
You are blessed if you have visited the temple in Guwahati which is a very famous Sakthi sthala. I think the place is known as Kamakhya. But I haven't been there yet.
