Devaki Krishna temple in Marcel is very unique as this temple has both Mother Devaki and her son ,cute little Krishna as the main deities. Devaki idol is in a standing posture with baby Krishna sitting on her hip. There is also another idol of Krishna standing in front of Mother Devaki, an excellent portrayal of mother-child relationship..This is the Kuldevata for our Gotra. This idol is very graceful and I think this is the only temple in India where we see Devaki and Krishna together. This deity also known as Pisso Ravalnath. This temple structure is very simple and every temple here has a narrow path just outside the sanctum for circumambulation.. There is also a small shrine outside this temple on the left side of the main temple for Bhoomika devi. The other deities are Lakshmi Ravalnath, Mallinath, Katyani.
Malni Poornima festival during January- February is the famous festival here and the temple gets thronged with pilgrims.

I just love the colours of this temple - so vibrant. Can I please ask for more information on the festival you mention. Is it a noisy affair with lots of singing or it it more solemn with lots of meditation?
Ivvalavu dhoorathla irukkara ungal kuladevathai ai dharisikka ungaluku kudhuthu vachchu irukku. As always excellent narration.
oh wow.. first time I have come across Devaki idol as well... I am soo glad to see such temples in photos.. wish I will be to see them in real :) Devaki nandan temple :)
Beautiful. I now see temples in Goa are as beautiful as those churches!! But no one knows about it!! thank you for sharing these with us. I missed visiting all these temples :-(
very beautiful..have been to this temple once...very peaceful place...
Lovely pictures, I did some adjusting with Yashoda and Deviki and then got them right!

the festival is called as spring festival or Holi festival. It would be noisy with crowd gathering, singing, playing with colours etc. Krishna loves o play Holi and that festival is associated with this temple.

Yes. It is very far away.We also have these kuladevatas in our home town also.Bu as these are the originals, people visit these temples once in their life time.
Thanks for that Chitra. I know I could always google these festivals but, if possible, I like a more personal explanation.

The temple architecture is simple here but it is unique as like you said this enshrines Devaki- Nandan.I was very much fascinated to see little Krishna sitting astride.
Usually Goa trip means visit to beaches and churches.I really made it my Pilgrimage too.I am happy many will be able to know more about these temples.
Sushma
As you are a GSB you would not have missed the Kuladevata temples.
sm, thanks for the comment.

Usually Yashoda is only associated with early part of Krishna's life. That is why this temple is unique and only one of its kind in India.
I loved that part that there is still the old roof; parts of the temple look like the temple structures in Orissa...
I never knew that there are so many beautiful temples in Goa..tourist guide show us only mangesh temple.
?
Some of the temples resemble Kerala temples too.Goa really gives us a feeling we are in S. India.
Samvedana
There many temples. More are to come.So keep watching.
All the temples in Goa look so serene and peaceful..
And the architecture is also different from the temples that i have been to!
Thanks for taking me along on this wonderful journey!!

Thanks. visiting all place is not possible. Various travoluges help us to learn about lot of places.Like I learn a lot from your's too.
Somehow the temples of Goa are so clean, well-maintained & bright that they don't seem like regular temples (to me) :D
Loved the pics. I have never been to a Devaki-Krishna temple. Wish I hadn't missed this.
i am a diehard fan (devotee hehe) of krsna...naturally enjoyed this post..nanri chitra ji

The temples, roads, places near the beaches everything is maintained so well. No litter on the beach.Even ice cream cups and wrappers of food are disposed in bins. We have to learn a lot,I mean our State, even basic amenties are missing
